Description

This White Pizza with Garlic Pizza Sauce is a creamy, cheesy delight topped with fresh basil. Made with a rich garlic Parmesan sauce and gooey mozzarella, it’s a perfect quick and flavorful pizza option for any occasion.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Garlic Pizza Sauce

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 1/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic, very finely chopped (or 3 teaspoons jarred minced garlic)
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

Pizza

  • 1 pizza crust, homemade or store-bought
  • 8 oz low moisture mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan garlic sauce (recipe above)
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp olive oil

Garnish

  • 2 tbsp fresh basil, chiffonade

Instructions

  1. Make Garlic Pizza Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes without browning, forming a roux.
  2. Add Milk: Slowly whisk in the milk, continuously stirring until the mixture becomes smooth, thick, and bubbly, approximately 3-5 minutes.
  3. Season and Add Garlic: Add sea salt, black pepper, and finely chopped garlic. Whisk to combine and cook for another minute.
  4. Add Cheese: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
  5. Preheat Oven: Set the oven to 450ºF (232ºC).
  6. Prepare Crust: Roll out the pizza dough on a 12-14 inch pizza pan or baking sheet. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  7. Assemble Pizza: Spread the garlic Parmesan sauce evenly over the crust. Top with grated mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
  8. Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with fresh basil, cut into slices, and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can use a rectangular baking sheet and cut the pizza into squares or breadstick shapes for a different presentation.
  • Serve with a side salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Ensure the garlic Parmesan sauce cools slightly before spreading on the pizza if hot, to prevent sogginess.
  • For a richer flavor, sprinkle some additional Parmesan on top before baking.
