Garlic Pizza Sauce
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups whole milk
- 1/4 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 3 cloves garlic, very finely chopped (or 3 teaspoons jarred minced garlic)
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated

- 1 pizza crust, homemade or store-bought
- 8 oz low moisture mozzarella cheese, grated
- 1/2 cup Parmesan garlic sauce (recipe above)
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp olive oil
Garnish
- 2 tbsp fresh basil, chiffonade
Instructions
- Make Garlic Pizza Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes without browning, forming a roux.
- Add Milk: Slowly whisk in the milk, continuously stirring until the mixture becomes smooth, thick, and bubbly, approximately 3-5 minutes.
- Season and Add Garlic: Add sea salt, black pepper, and finely chopped garlic. Whisk to combine and cook for another minute.
- Add Cheese: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
- Preheat Oven: Set the oven to 450ºF (232ºC).
- Prepare Crust: Roll out the pizza dough on a 12-14 inch pizza pan or baking sheet. Brush with olive oil and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
- Assemble Pizza: Spread the garlic Parmesan sauce evenly over the crust. Top with grated mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
- Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with fresh basil, cut into slices, and serve hot.

- You can use a rectangular baking sheet and cut the pizza into squares or breadstick shapes for a different presentation.
- Serve with a side salad or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
- Ensure the garlic Parmesan sauce cools slightly before spreading on the pizza if hot, to prevent sogginess.
