Description

This Mississippi Pot Roast recipe is a classic comfort dish that is savory and tangy with a hint of spice. The chuck roast becomes incredibly tender and flavorful after slow cooking in a savory buttery sauce.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 4 pound chuck roast

Seasonings:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 package ranch dressing mix
  • 1 package au jus gravy mix
  • 5 pepperoncini peppers plus a splash of the juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Roast: Place the chuck roast in the bottom of a crockpot or slow cooker.
  2. Add Ingredients: Top the roast with slices of butter, sprinkle the ranch and au jus mixes over the top, add the pepperoncini peppers, and pour a splash of the pepper juice.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.
  4. Shred and Serve: Shred the meat right before serving. Enjoy the flavorful Mississippi Pot Roast!

Notes

  • For oven cooking: Place the roast in a Dutch oven or roasting pan, cover with foil, and bake at 325°F for 3 to 4 hours until fork-tender.
  • To reduce the butter content, you can omit the butter without compromising the taste. Look for a well-marbled cut of chuck roast for a tender result.
