Description

A comforting and delicious Sloppy Joe Casserole featuring ground beef, Manwich sauce, bowtie noodles, and melted cheese, baked to perfection for a hearty dinner option.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Meat and Vegetables

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 cup diced yellow onion

Sauces and Canned Goods

  • 24 oz can original Manwich sauce
  • 15 oz can original Manwich sauce

Pasta

  • 12 oz package farfalle (bowtie) noodles, cooked al dente

Cheese

  • 8 oz package shredded Velveeta
  • 8 oz package shredded Colby-Jack cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside for later use.
  2. Brown Ground Beef and Onion: In a 4-5 quart heavy-bottomed stock pot over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef together with the diced yellow onion. Cook until the beef is no longer pink and the onions are translucent. Drain any excess grease from the pot, then return the cooked beef and onions to the pot.
  3. Add Manwich Sauce and Noodles: Add both cans of original Manwich sauce to the browned beef and onions. Then add the cooked farfalle noodles and the shredded Velveeta cheese. Stir everything thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
  4. Assemble Casserole: Pour the prepared mixture into the lightly sprayed 9×13 baking dish, spreading it evenly. Then, sprinkle the shredded Colby-Jack cheese evenly over the top.
  5. Bake the Casserole: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until the cheese on top is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • For best texture, cook bowtie noodles al dente before mixing with the other ingredients.
  • You can substitute Velveeta with processed cheese slices if preferred.
  • This casserole can be prepared ahead of time and refrigerated before baking; just add a few extra minutes to baking time if baked cold.
  • Feel free to add vegetables such as bell peppers or mushrooms to the ground beef mixture for added nutrition.
  • Serve hot with a side salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced meal.
