Description

This Pumpkin Spice Spiderweb Cookie Pizza is a festive and delicious dessert perfect for Halloween or fall gatherings. A sugar cookie base baked to golden perfection is topped with creamy pumpkin-spiced frosting and decorated with a spooky spiderweb design made from black decorator icing. Optional candy eyes add a fun touch, making it perfect for all ages.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Base

  • 1 (16.5 ounce) tube sugar cookie dough

Frosting

  • 1 can vanilla frosting
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Orange gel food coloring, a few drops
  • Black decorator frosting (for spiderweb design)

Optional Decoration

  • Candy eyes

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly spray a round pizza pan (or a 9-inch cake pan) with cooking spray containing flour to prevent sticking.
  2. Shape Cookie Dough: Press the entire tube of sugar cookie dough evenly into the bottom of your prepared pan, creating a flat cookie pizza base.
  3. Bake the Cookie: Bake the cookie dough in the preheated oven for 14-16 minutes if using a pizza pan, or longer if using a thicker pan, until golden brown. Remove from oven and allow it to cool completely before frosting.
  4. Prepare Pumpkin Spice Frosting: In a bowl, stir 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice into the can of vanilla frosting. Add a few drops of orange gel food coloring and mix until the color is evenly blended.
  5. Frost the Cookie: Spread the pumpkin spice frosting evenly over the cooled cookie pizza.
  6. Create Spiderweb Design: Using black decorator frosting, pipe concentric circles around the frosted cookie, spacing them about half an inch apart, from the outer edge toward the center.
  7. Form Spiderweb: With a toothpick, starting from the center, drag the black icing through the orange frosting outward to the edge to form spiderweb lines. Repeat evenly around the cookie to complete the web design.
  8. Add Optional Candy Eyes: Place candy eyes on top of the cookie pizza as desired for a spooky effect.
  9. Store: Store the finished cookie pizza in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to one month.

Notes

  • You can alternatively use 1 pouch of sugar cookie dough prepared according to package directions or your favorite homemade sugar cookie recipe.
  • If you prefer homemade frosting, try a vanilla buttercream or pumpkin spice frosting recipe for a fresher taste.
  • If black decorator icing is unavailable, reserve about 1/4 of the vanilla frosting, dye it black with food coloring, and pipe the circles using a piping bag.
