Ingredients
Scale
Base
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 10 ounce bag marshmallows
- 1 box vanilla instant pudding mix (3.4 ounce)
- 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice mix
- 5 cups rice krispies cereal
Topping
- 1 cup white chocolate chips, melted
- Sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line a 9-inch square baking pan with foil or parchment paper. Grease the foil with butter using the butter wrapper to prevent sticking. Set aside.
- Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add marshmallows and stir constantly until completely melted. Reduce the heat to low to avoid burning and continue stirring until smooth.
- Add Flavorings: Remove the pot from heat and quickly stir in the vanilla instant pudding mix and pumpkin pie spice, ensuring they are evenly incorporated into the marshmallow mixture.
- Combine with Cereal: Fold in the rice krispies cereal gently to evenly coat all the pieces without crushing.
- Press Mixture into Pan: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan. Use a light touch to press the mixture into the pan evenly; avoid pressing too hard to keep the treats soft and chewy. Dampen your fingers with water to prevent sticking.
- Add the Topping: Spread the melted white chocolate chips evenly over the top of the pressed treats. Immediately sprinkle your choice of sprinkles over the chocolate before it sets.
- Set and Serve: Allow the treats to set at room temperature for about 1 hour until the chocolate topping firms. Once set, cut into 9 squares and enjoy.
Notes
- Use a light touch when pressing the treats into the pan; pressing too hard will dry out and harden the treats.
- Dampen your fingers with water to prevent the sticky mixture from adhering while pressing it into the pan.
- Greasing the pan with the butter wrapper adds just enough butter to prevent sticking without making the treats greasy.
