Description

Prosecco Grapes are a refreshing and elegant treat perfect for parties or special occasions. This recipe features crunchy green grapes marinated in sparkling prosecco, then coated with sugar for a delightful bite that combines sweetness and effervescence. These grapes can be enjoyed chilled or frozen, adding a fun twist to your dessert or cocktail garnishes.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 3-4 cups green grapes (crunchy grapes work best)
  • 1 bottle of champagne or prosecco (any quality, does not need to be expensive)
  • 1 cup cane sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Grapes: Start by washing the grapes thoroughly under cold water. Remove each grape individually from the stem to allow for better marination.
  2. Poke the Grapes: Using a toothpick, gently poke small holes into each grape. This step helps the prosecco to better penetrate and infuse the grapes.
  3. Marinate: Place the pierced grapes in a large bowl and pour the entire bottle of prosecco over them. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a lid and refrigerate for a minimum of 8 hours, preferably overnight. Grapes can marinate up to 24 hours for maximum flavor absorption.
  4. Drain and Sugar Coat: After marination, drain the prosecco from the grapes, saving the liquid if you’d like to use it for a cocktail. While the grapes are still moist, toss them thoroughly in the cane sugar so the sugar adheres well.
  5. Chill or Freeze: Spread the sugar-coated grapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place them in the refrigerator to chill or into the freezer if you prefer frozen grapes. Keep them until ready to serve.

Notes

  • Use crunchy grapes for best results; avoid any grapes that look soggy or dull.
  • Poking holes in the grapes allows the prosecco flavor to infuse more deeply.
  • Toss grapes in sugar while they are still wet from marination so the sugar sticks properly.
  • You can freeze the grapes and then bring them to room temperature before serving if preferred.
  • The grapes can marinate up to 24 hours in advance, making this a great make-ahead treat.
