Ingredients
Broccoli Florets:
16 oz.
Orecchiette Pasta:
1 lb.
Olive Oil:
1 Tbsp.
Italian Sausage:
16 oz.
Garlic:
4 cloves
Reserved Pasta Water:
2 cups
Toppings:
Grated Parmesan Cheese, Olive Oil, Red Pepper Flakes, Freshly Cracked Pepper, Flaky Sea Salt
Instructions
- Prep broccoli: Clean and trim broccoli, then chop florets into small pieces.
- Cook pasta: Cook pasta according to package instructions, removing from heat 2 minutes early. Reserve 2 cups of pasta water.
- Heat olive oil: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and cook sausage until browned.
- Add broccoli and garlic: Add chopped broccoli and garlic to the skillet, cooking until broccoli softens.
- Combine: Add drained pasta and half of the pasta water to the skillet, tossing together. Add more pasta water if needed.
- Serve: Top with desired toppings and serve.
Notes
- Store in the fridge for 3–4 days; not ideal for freezing.
- Ingredient variations: Use pork, chicken, or turkey sausage. Whole grain pasta is a tasty alternative.
- Prep ahead by chopping broccoli in advance.
- Serve with Italian chopped salad and garlic bread.
