This Instant Pot General Tso’s Chicken recipe is a quick and flavorful twist on the classic Chinese takeout dish. Tender chicken pieces coated in a sweet and savory sauce, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions, and served over rice.

Chicken:
- 2 pounds chicken breast, skinless and boneless, cut into bite-size pieces
Sauce:
- 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon water
Optional Garnish:
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- Saute Chicken: Turn on the Instant Pot to the saute setting. Add chicken pieces and remaining sauce ingredients, except cornstarch and water. Stir well.
- Cook: Close the lid, set to Poultry setting for 5 minutes. Allow natural release for 10 minutes.
- Thicken Sauce: In a bowl, mix cornstarch and water. Pour into the pot, cook until sauce thickens.
- Finish: Remove chicken, garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve over rice.
