Description

These Honey Garlic Meatballs are a deliciously sweet and savory appetizer or main dish. Frozen meatballs are coated in a flavorful sauce made with honey, brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce, and garlic, then baked to perfection until caramelized and tender. Garnished with sesame seeds and fresh scallions or parsley, this easy recipe makes a crowd-pleasing meal that pairs wonderfully with rice or mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Meatballs

  • 32 ounces frozen meatballs

Sauce

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons lite soy sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

Garnish

  • Sesame seeds
  • Scallions or parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it reaches the right temperature for baking the meatballs evenly.
  2. Make the sauce: In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the honey, brown sugar, ketchup, lite soy sauce, and minced garlic until well combined and smooth.
  3. Coat the meatballs: In a large mixing bowl, add the frozen meatballs. Pour the prepared sauce over them and stir gently to make sure each meatball is evenly coated with the sauce.
  4. Arrange in baking dish: Transfer the coated meatballs along with the sauce into a 9×13 inch baking dish, spreading them out evenly.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the meatballs are nicely caramelized and the sauce has thickened to a glossy glaze.
  6. Garnish and serve: Remove the meatballs from the oven, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped scallions or parsley for freshness and a pop of color. Serve immediately, ideally paired with white rice or mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a spicy kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce mixture before baking.
  • This dish is excellent served over steamed white rice or creamy mashed potatoes to soak up the extra sauce.
