Description

This Homemade Taco Pizza combines the irresistible flavors of seasoned ground beef, melty cheese, and fresh toppings on a crispy crescent dough crust. Ready in just 35 minutes, it’s an easy and fun twist on classic pizza, perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Crust

  • 16 ounces (2 8-ounce) container crescent dough sheets

Meat Mixture

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 ounces (2 1-ounce) packages of mild taco seasoning
  • 3/4 cup water

Toppings

  • 3 1/2 cups freshly shredded Colby and Monterey jack cheese
  • 1 cup quartered grape tomatoes
  • 1/3 cup thinly sliced green onions
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro (optional garnish)
  • Sour cream (optional garnish)
  • Hot sauce (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F to prepare it for baking the crescent dough crust.
  2. Prepare the crust: Unroll one container of crescent dough sheets and gently stretch it to cover half of an ungreased baking sheet. Unroll the second container and stretch it to cover the remaining half, allowing some overlap. Press the seams together to seal and pierce the dough all over with a fork to prevent bubbling during baking. Bake the crust for 10 minutes until it turns golden brown.
  3. Cook the ground beef: While the crust bakes, place the ground beef in a 2 to 4-quart saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir frequently to break up the meat and cook until no longer pink, about 5-6 minutes.
  4. Add seasoning and simmer: Reduce heat to medium and stir in the two packages of mild taco seasoning along with ¾ cup water. Let it cook and simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from the heat.
  5. Assemble the pizza: Once the crust is baked, remove it from the oven and evenly spread the seasoned taco meat over the crust. Sprinkle the shredded Colby and Monterey jack cheese evenly across the top of the meat layer.
  6. Melt the cheese: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for another 4-5 minutes, or until the cheese has fully melted and is bubbly.
  7. Add fresh toppings and serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and top with quartered grape tomatoes, thinly sliced green onions, and chopped cilantro if desired. Drizzle sour cream and hot sauce over the pizza as optional garnishes. Serve immediately for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can use mild or spicy taco seasoning depending on your preference.
  • For a crispier crust, consider prebaking the dough a few minutes longer before adding toppings.
  • Sour cream and hot sauce add a nice cool and spicy contrast but can be omitted for a simpler pizza.
  • Feel free to add other toppings such as black olives, jalapeños, or avocado slices.
  • Leftover taco pizza can be refrigerated and reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
