Description
A refreshing and easy-to-make strawberry sorbet using fresh or frozen strawberries, sweetened naturally with your choice of sugar or syrup, and brightened with lemon juice. No ice cream machine needed if you use a high-speed blender, making it a perfect quick dessert for warm days.
Ingredients
Scale
Strawberries
- 3 cups strawberries (360g), fresh or frozen
Sweetener
- 1/4 cup sugar of choice (pure maple syrup, white sugar, xylitol, etc.)
Flavoring
- 2 tsp lemon juice or zest of 1 lemon
- optional pinch salt
Instructions
- Prepare Strawberries: Remove the stems from the strawberries. If they are not already frozen, freeze them to achieve the ideal texture for the sorbet.
- Blend Ingredients: For a high-speed blender like a Vitamix, combine the frozen strawberries, sugar, lemon juice or zest, and optional salt. Blend until the mixture achieves a smooth, sorbet-like texture.
- Alternative Method: If using a regular blender, allow the berries to thaw just enough to be processed smoothly. Then, transfer the mixture to an ice cream machine and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions for the best consistency.
Notes
- Using a high-speed blender eliminates the need for an ice cream maker.
- Choose your preferred sweetener based on dietary needs and sweetness level.
- The optional pinch of salt enhances the sweetness and flavor depth.
- Adjust lemon juice quantity to taste for brightness and acidity.
- If sorbet is too soft after blending, freeze for additional 30 minutes to firm up before serving.
