Description

Celebrate Halloween with these festive Halloween Pretzel Rods, perfectly coated in colorful candy melts and topped with fun sprinkles. These sweet and salty treats are easy to make and a hit for parties or as a seasonal snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Candy Coating

  • 12 oz Candy Melts in various colors (bright orange, black, green, purple)
  • 2-5 tablespoons refined coconut oil or shortening

Pretzels & Decorations

  • 24 Pretzel Rods
  • Halloween Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking surface: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or set a cooling rack nearby where dipped pretzel rods can be placed upright to dry.
  2. Melt candy melts: Microwave candy melts on 50% power for 30 seconds, stir, then repeat heating in 30-second intervals until mostly melted. Residual heat will finish melting any lumps. Melt one color at a time.
  3. Adjust consistency: If the candy melts are thick, stir in refined coconut oil or shortening one tablespoon at a time until smooth and easy to dip. Avoid overheating to prevent burning or clumping.
  4. Dip pretzels: Dip each pretzel rod into the melted candy melts, tapping off excess coating. Place on prepared baking sheet.
  5. Decorate: While the coating is still wet, add Halloween sprinkles or drizzle with other melted candy melt colors. To coat all sides evenly, dip, sprinkle, and place upright on a cooling rack to dry.
  6. Set the coating: Let pretzels harden at room temperature for 10-15 minutes or speed up setting by refrigerating.

Notes

  • Store leftover pretzels in a Ziploc bag to maintain freshness.
  • Consume within one week for best taste and texture.
  • Melting times can vary by brand and microwave wattage, so check candy melts frequently.
  • Refined coconut oil is preferred for coating as it does not add a coconut flavor; unrefined coconut oil or shortening can also be used.
