Description

This recipe features a succulent whole turkey breast, beautifully glazed with a maple syrup and butter mixture and roasted to perfection. Infused with fresh herbs and aromatic fruits, it’s a simple yet elegant dish perfect for holiday or special family meals.

Ingredients

Scale

Turkey and Aromatics

  • 1 (7 lb.) whole turkey breast (fresh or frozen and thawed)
  • ½ of an apple (chopped into two pieces)
  • ½ of a lemon
  • ½ of an onion
  • 1 stalk celery (halved)
  • 1 sprig fresh rosemary
  • 1 sprig fresh thyme
  • Kosher salt (to taste)

Glaze and Liquid

  • ½ cup (1 stick) salted butter
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Turkey Breast: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Rinse the turkey breast under cold water and pat dry thoroughly with paper towels. Place the turkey breast in a roasting pan.
  2. Insert Aromatics: Stuff the cavity of the turkey breast with the chopped apple pieces, half a lemon, half an onion, celery stalk, rosemary, and thyme. These aromatics will infuse the turkey with a delicate fragrance and flavor as it roasts.
  3. Season: Generously season the outside of the turkey breast with kosher salt, rubbing it evenly over the skin to ensure a flavorful crust.
  4. Create the Glaze: In a small saucepan, melt the salted butter over low heat. Stir in the maple syrup and water, mixing well to form a smooth glaze. Remove from heat.
  5. Apply Glaze and Roast: Brush the turkey breast thoroughly with the maple syrup and butter glaze. Place the roasting pan in the oven and roast the turkey breast for approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes (135 minutes), occasionally basting with the remaining glaze every 30 minutes to enhance flavor and keep the meat moist.
  6. Check Doneness: Use a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the turkey breast to check internal temperature; it should read 165°F (74°C) when fully cooked.
  7. Rest the Turkey: Remove the turkey breast from the oven and tent loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for 15–20 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute, ensuring moist slices.
  8. Serve: Carve the turkey breast and serve with your favorite sides, enjoying the sweet and savory maple glaze and herb-infused meat.

Notes

  • Keep the holidays simple with a glazed and roasted whole turkey breast!
  • Make sure the turkey is completely thawed if previously frozen to ensure even cooking.
  • Basting regularly keeps the meat juicy and enhances the glaze’s flavor.
  • The resting period is essential to maintain moist and tender slices.
