Description

Festive Goat Cheese Christmas Present Appetizers are charming, bite-sized treats perfect for holiday gatherings. Featuring herbed goat cheese artfully shaped on crisp rice crackers and adorned with chives, parsley, and pink peppercorns, these elegant appetizers provide a delightful combination of creamy, fresh, and slightly peppery flavors in a festive presentation.

Ingredients

Scale

Appetizers

  • 12 rice crackers
  • 3 chives
  • 4 oz. herbed goat cheese
  • 2 oz. curly parsley leaves
  • 12 pink peppercorns

Instructions

  1. Shape the Goat Cheese: Place a 1½-inch square cookie cutter in the center of a rice cracker. Spoon about 1½ teaspoons of herbed goat cheese into the cookie cutter and evenly fill it to the sides.
  2. Remove the Cutter: Use a small spoon or a plastic-gloved finger to press and gently ease the cookie cutter up, leaving a neat, square-shaped goat cheese topping on the cracker.
  3. Prepare the Chive Ribbon: Use kitchen scissors to cut a chive into two pieces matching the length of the cheese square. Lay one piece down the center of the goat cheese square. Cut one of the pieces in half and place these shorter pieces on each side to create a cross pattern resembling a ribbon.
  4. Attach the Pink Peppercorn: Dab a tiny bit of goat cheese onto a pink peppercorn and stick it in the center of the chive ribbon. The cheese acts as an adhesive to keep it in place.
  5. Add Parsley Leaves: Using a toothpick or cocktail pin, press two small curly parsley leaves gently on each side of the chive ribbon, securing them into the cheese to complete the festive presentation.

Notes

  • Rice crackers tend to go stale after about an hour when refrigerated with the cheese, but they remain tasty up to that point. For making ahead, consider using Ritz crackers or other denser, wheat-based buttery crackers, which stay crispy longer.
  • If pink peppercorns are hard to find locally, they can be purchased online through Amazon or at specialty spice shops.
  • Refer to the post for detailed instructions with photos to aid in assembly.
