Ingredients
Scale
Cookie Mixture
- 14.3 oz vanilla sandwich cookies, crushed
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- Green food coloring
- Purple food coloring
Coating and Decoration
- 12 oz black candy melts
- 1 cup light green candy melts
- Green pearl sprinkles
- Candy eyes (optional)
- Assorted Halloween sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Prep: Crush the vanilla sandwich cookies into fine crumbs using a ziplock bag and rolling pin or a food processor. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Make the Batter: In a large bowl, combine the cookie crumbs and softened cream cheese. Use an electric hand mixer to blend into a smooth mixture. Divide the mixture into two bowls and tint one with green food coloring and the other with purple food coloring.
- Form Balls: Take a teaspoon of each colored mixture and gently swirl them together, then roll into a ball. Next, take about a half teaspoon of the mixture, roll into a smaller ball, flatten it, and place it atop the larger ball to form the cauldron’s lid. Arrange on the parchment-lined tray.
- Freeze: Place the formed cauldrons in the freezer for at least 1 hour or up to overnight to firm up.
- Coat with Black Candy Melts: Melt the black candy melts in a double boiler or microwave in 30-second intervals until smooth. Carefully dip each cauldron into the melted black candy to fully coat it. Set them back onto the parchment-lined tray to harden.
- Decorate with Green Candy Melts: Melt the light green candy melts using the same method. Transfer melted green candy melts into a ziplock bag, snip a small corner, and pipe drips on the tops of the cauldrons. While still wet, sprinkle green pearl sprinkles over the top to resemble bubbles. Add candy eyes and Halloween sprinkles as desired.
- Set and Serve: Allow the chocolate to set completely, which takes about 1 hour. Once set, serve and enjoy your festive cauldron Oreo balls!
