Sauce:
- 1/2 cup mustard
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 4 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp liquid smoke
- 6 dashes hot sauce of your choice (adjust to taste)
Slurry:
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tsp water, room temperature
Instructions
- Create Slurry: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Set aside.
- Mix Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients. Whisk until well combined.
- Cook Sauce: Pour the mixture into a small saucepan. Whisk often while simmering over low heat for 3 minutes, avoiding boiling.
- Add Slurry: Incorporate the slurry mix into the sauce and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Cool and Store: Remove from heat, allow to cool, then transfer to a jar. Refrigerate overnight.
- Serve: Warm the sauce in a pot before serving.
Notes
- You can adjust the level of heat by adding more or less hot sauce.
- Store the BBQ sauce in the refrigerator for up to a week.
