Description

This Candy Corn Inspired Carrot and Orange Juice Gin Cocktail is a delightful, layered drink that captures the festive colors of candy corn. Made with a homemade Splenda simple syrup, fresh juices, and gin, this cocktail offers a refreshing balance of sweetness and zest in just 150 calories per serving. Perfect for Halloween parties or any vibrant celebration, it features a visually stunning presentation and optional smoky dry ice effect.

Ingredients

Scale

Splenda Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia
  • ⅛ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Candy Corn Cocktail

  • 2 fluid ounces tangerine or orange juice (30 calories)
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup (see recipe instructions) (25 calories)
  • 1 fluid ounce gin (72 calories)
  • 2 fluid ounces carrot juice (22 calories)
  • Ice
  • Highball glasses or Old Fashioned Glasses
  • Optional: soda water, tonic water, or regular water to top off
  • Optional: small pieces of dry ice for smoky effect (ensure fully dissolved before consuming)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Splenda Simple Syrup: In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the water, SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia, and optional vanilla extract. Bring to a low simmer, stirring until all the sweetener has fully dissolved. Remove from heat and refrigerate until ready to use.
  2. Mix Bottom Layer: Fill the desired number of glasses with ice. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, then add the tangerine or orange juice along with 1 tablespoon of the prepared simple syrup. Shake well to combine.
  3. Pour Bottom Layer: Carefully pour the shaken juice and syrup mixture into the glass over the ice as the bottom layer.
  4. Mix Top Layer: Rinse the cocktail shaker and fill with ice. Add 1 fluid ounce gin and 2 fluid ounces carrot juice. Shake well until combined and chilled.
  5. Layer Top Layer: Invert a spoon over the glass and very slowly pour the gin and carrot juice mixture on top of the bottom layer. The ice helps create a separation, resulting in a layered effect.
  6. Optional Final Touch: Top off the drink with a splash of soda water, tonic water, or regular water if desired, noting that carbonation may disturb the layers.
  7. Optional Dry Ice Effect: For a smoky effect, carefully drop a couple of small pieces of dry ice into the top of the drink. Ensure all dry ice has fully dissolved before drinking.

Notes

  • Handle dry ice with care and never consume it directly. Wait until it has completely dissolved before drinking.
  • This cocktail can be customized by using either tangerine or orange juice according to your preference.
  • Use ice to help create the layered visual effect when pouring the top layer slowly over a spoon.
  • The simple syrup can be prepared ahead of time and stored refrigerated for convenience.
  • Adjust sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup to taste.
