Enjoy tender and flavorful Cajun Garlic Butter Steak Bites cooked to perfection in a cast iron skillet. This recipe combines bold Cajun spices with buttery garlic for a quick and satisfying appetizer or main course that’s perfect for weeknights or special gatherings.
Ingredients
Cajun Seasoning:
0.5 tsp cayenne pepper2 tsp smoked paprika
2 tsp salt
2 tsp garlic powder
1.5 tsp onion powder
1 tsp dried oregano
0.5 tsp dried thyme
0.5 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp brown sugar
Steak:
1.5 pounds steak (sirloin or ribeye recommended) cut into 2-inch cubes1 tbsp olive oil
4 tbsp butter
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp finely minced parsley
Instructions
- Mix Spices: Combine all the seasoning ingredients in a bowl, mixing well to ensure even distribution. Toss the steak cubes in the spice mixture until thoroughly coated.
- Heat Oil: Warm the olive oil over medium-high heat in a large cast iron skillet or suitable heavy-bottomed pan until shimmering.
- Sear the Steak: Carefully add the seasoned steak cubes to the hot oil. Cook for about 2 minutes on one side until browned, then flip each piece and cook for another 2 minutes. Adjust cooking time if you prefer your steak more or less done.
- Remove and Keep Warm: Once browned to your liking, transfer the steak bites to a plate and keep warm.
- Make Garlic Butter: Reduce heat to medium, melt the butter in the same pan, and add minced garlic. Stir and scrape the bottom to incorporate any browned bits, cooking the garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds to 1 minute).
- Combine and Finish: Return the steak bites to the skillet, spooning the garlic butter over them. Cook for another minute to soak up the flavors. Remove from heat and sprinkle with chopped parsley.
- Serve: Serve immediately while hot, garnished with extra parsley if desired.
Notes
- Adjust cooking times to reach your preferred level of doneness; less time for rare, longer for well-done.
- Use a cast iron skillet for best searing results, but a heavy-duty pan works well too.
- For extra flavor, add a dash of lemon juice or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.
- The spice mixture can be prepared in advance and stored for future use.
- This dish pairs well with sautéed vegetables, rice, or a fresh salad.
